Support Volunteer (Alzheimers EBOP)

JOB TITLE: SUPPORT VOLUNTEER (Alzheimers Ebop)

COMMITMENT: Flexible hours according to role undertaken

DESCRIPTION: Volunteers can help make life a little easier for those living with Dementia. We have a role to suit everyone.

GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Helping with fundraising activities and events, or
  • Administrative work, or
  • Socializing with or visiting people with Dementia, or
  • Providing transport for medical appointments, or
  • Helping run activities to help people with Dementia

SKILLS NEEDED:

  • Organizational ability
  • Good communication skills
  • Enjoy meeting new people
  • Willing to learn more about Dementia
  • We also love to hear from those who do crafts, music, sing, enjoy playing cards etc.

Budgeting Advisor (Kawerau)

JOB TITLE: BUDGETING ADVISOR (KAWERAU)

COMMITMENT: Flexi Hours, 2-4 days per month (roster system) Tuesdays to Thursdays, 9.30am to 2.30pm

DESCRIPTION: Providing financial guidance to members of the community that struggle to make ends meet is more important now more than ever. If you are good with your own household budget and keen to share how you manage and overcome financial stresses in order to ensure you can provide for yourself and your whanau, consider becoming a part of this small team in Kawerau.

GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES: Face-to-face mentoring and personal support for people learning how to build their own financial capacity.

SKILLS NEEDED:

  • Financial knowledge with respect to managing household budgets and savings
  • Ability to engage and work with a diverse range of community organisations
  • Medium to strong computer skills
  • Medium to strong organisational skills
  • MUST HAVE – supportive and confidential attitude

Donation Sorter & Packers (Food Hub)

JOB TITLE: Donation Sorter & Packers (Food Hub)

COMMITMENT: Flexible – based on need and availability

DESCRIPTION: Donation Sorter & Packers are vital to the operations and delivery of this community focused service.

GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Sorting and packing food according to food distribution plan
  • Preparing food packs for deliveries to families in need

Animal Support

JOB TITLE: Animal Support

COMMITMENT: Minimum of 6 months, 3 hour shifts.

DESCRIPTION: We are looking for volunteers to help with the daily work of caring for our animals.

GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES: Cleaning cages; feeding the animals; caring for the animals; walking dogs; taking care of small animals – guinea pigs, rabbits, chickens and birds

Retail Shop Support (Op Shop)

JOB TITLE: Retail Shop Support (Op Shop)

COMMITMENT: Both full and half-day shifts are available. Weekend hours may be required.

DESCRIPTION: This social enterprise supports the local SPCA and is reliant on the volunteers to help generate much needed funds for the cause.

GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES: Receiving, cleaning and merchandising donated goods; Customer service; General housekeeping duties (including some cleaning/vacuuming)

Programme Facilitator, Ōpōtiki

JOB TITLE: Programme Facilitator, Ōpōtiki

COMMITMENT: A few hours per week for 6mths or more

DESCRIPTION: Growing Through Grief is a social service providing education and peer-support programmes for children, young people, and adults who are experiencing change, loss and grief in their lives. This role is vital in the delivery of these programmes.

GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES: Deliver the programme to a variety of groups and individuals on a weekly basis, during the school term.

DESCRIPTION: Videographer/Photographer provides a visual record of how the social sector contributes to the wellbeing and vibrancy of a community.

GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES: Capturing the stories and activities of the Eastern Bay of Plenty social sector and the amazing work charitable and community groups do to support the vibrancy and wellbeing of our communities.

Events Support Person

JOB TITLE: Events Support Person

COMMITMENT: Flexi Hours, project based

DESCRIPTION: Events Support people are vital in helping charitable and community groups maintain their ability to support the community through the work they do.

GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES: Helping with fundraising activities such as raffles, stalls, organising events e.g Christmas Lunch, Awareness Week events etc.

Wellbeing Support Person

JOB TITLE: Wellbeing Support Person

COMMITMENT: Flexi Hours, activities and client based requirements

DESCRIPTION: Wellbeing Support Person provides that vital connection between the community and people who may otherwise feel isolated or need extra support to maintain their wellbeing.

GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES: Acting as a companion for a range activities

  • Listening and chatting.
  • Taking a person out to an activity they enjoy
  • Gardening, crafts, playing games, shopping
  • Supporting the caregiver
  • Providing transport to attend meetings, appointments etc.

DESCRIPTION: Community Funding/Financial Advisor role focuses on providing sustainable financial solutions to EBOP organisations so that they can continue to deliver their essential services to the community.  This role acts as a main point of contact for charitable organisations to get advice and support with sustainable financial options. 

GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Researching funding sources to match needs of EBOP charitable organisations
  • Connecting potential funders/sponsors/donors with EBOP charitable organisations
  • Supporting EBOP charitable organisations with submitting funding applications

Community Social Media Coordinator

JOB TITLE: Community Social Media Coordinator

Community Network Volunteer Coordinator

JOB TITLE: Community Network Volunteer Coordinator

DESCRIPTION: Community Network Volunteer Coordinator is a vital role in driving the Community Network Volunteer programme and ensuring community organisations are receiving the support they need.  This role acts as a main point of contact for charitable organisations to request volunteers for specific projects as well as provides ongoing support to volunteers in the Eastern Bay of Plenty. 

GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Promoting EBOP Community Network and benefits of TENT membership to local organisations & volunteers
  • Matching EBOP organisations with Community Network volunteers
  • Maintaining and increasing the volunteer database and records

Community Network Data Entry Administrator

JOB TITLE: Community Network Data Entry Administrator
